Mike Petrullo – President and Chief Executive Officer
Mike Petrullo assumed the role of President and CEO of HireRight in September 2009. He joined the Altegrity group of companies in March 2009, initially serving as a senior vice president on the Altegrity corporate leadership team, focusing on organic and inorganic growth initiatives. He is a seasoned finance and operations executive with significant M&A and restructuring experience and an outstanding track record of leadership and accomplishment driving organizational change and development.
Prior to Altegrity, Mr. Petrullo served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC). There he helped design a new business model and led restructuring efforts in 2005 that resulted in $650 million of annual cost savings for the company. He developed the strategy for MMC’s Operational Excellence Program, which resulted in $350 million of annual cost savings from leveraging best practices companywide in the infrastructure and administrative functions. He served on MMC’s executive committee and was the chairman of its operating committee.
Prior to that position, he served as chief financial officer for Marsh-Kroll Risk Consulting. During this period, Mr. Petrullo was responsible for several successful acquisition and merger transition efforts, including the successful integration of Kroll, Inc. with MMC and the combination of Marsh’s Risk Consulting business into Kroll’s operations.
Mr. Petrullo was Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Kroll from May 2002 to July 2004, where he restructured the management of the operating units from a regional-based management system to a product line system. He was the chairman of the operations committee and a member of both the executive and expansion committees. Prior to that, he held positions of increasing responsibility with the company, beginning with his arrival at Kroll Associates in 1995 as Assistant Controller. From 1990 to 1995, he served as a member of the audit and assurance practice and forensic accounting practice of KPMG, Peat Marwick, LLP.
Mr. Petrullo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Pace University in New York.
Brian Pierson, Chief Operating Officer & Senior Vice President
Brian Pierson joined HireRight in December 2011 as chief operating officer. Mr. Pierson has more than 20 years of global operations, information technology, manufacturing, strategy, and management experience, and leads worldwide service delivery functions for HireRight. Before joining HireRight, Mr. Pierson served as senior vice president of global operations and acting head of research & development at NASDAQ-listed technology firm FEI Company, where he was responsible for the global IT, manufacturing and engineering organizations. While at FEI, he served as chair of the product development board and led gross margin improvement programs. Prior to FEI Company, Mr. Pierson was vice president of sales operations at Xilinx where he was responsible for process improvements resulting in significant increases in lead development and conversion rates. Previously, Mr. Pierson held leadership positions at Applied Materials, including running operations for a $2B service division. He also served for 11 years in the United States Army as an officer in a variety of assignments including the Desert Storm operation and educational instruction at West Point.
Pierson holds a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science and Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Richard Garofalo – Senior Director, Finance/Chief Financial Officer
Rich Garofalo joined HireRight in January 2013 as its Senior Director, Finance, and was named CFO in April. Mr. Garofalo has responsibility for the company’s global financial, accounting and procurement functions. Prior to this assignment, Mr. Garofalo was the leader of Altegrity’s corporate Financial Planning and Analysis for two years. Immediately before coming to the Altegrity organization, Mr. Garofalo served as the Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis at Eisai Pharmaceuticals, and before that was Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Alpharma. Previously Mr. Garofalo served in leadership roles in property and tax, financial planning and analysis and accounting during nearly nine years with BASF Corporation. Mr. Garofalo began his career at Deloitte & Touche, LLP in its audit department. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New Jersey, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Management.
Rachel Trindade - Vice President of Marketing
Rachel Trindade joined HireRight in 2004 and was named Vice President of Marketing in March 2013. She is responsible for leading HireRight’s Marketing, Field Operations, and Business Development functions, focusing on branding strategy and demand generation execution leading to new customer acquisition across the large, mid-market, and small business markets.
Previously at HireRight, Ms. Trindade led the integration of the Go-to-Market functions during the USIS, NDI, Powerchex, and Kroll mergers/acquisitions. She also built HireRight’s field operations and sales engineering organizations, and led Global Market Development to better support the requirements of major multinational organizations. She also pioneered and launched the HireRight Benchmarking Survey, the first ever survey and report of its kind in the background screening industry.
Before joining HireRight, Ms. Trindade served as the Market Segment Manager for MGE UPS Systems (a subsidiary of Schneider Electric), where she launched the first fuel cell powered UPS into the market and managed the inverter and power conditioner product lines.
Ms. Trindade began her career in product management and cooperative advertising at a major computer supplies distributor. She supported the spin off and IPO of PFSweb, a leading eCommerce and Business Process Outsourcer through various corporate communications, marketing, and client services management roles.
Ms. Trindade holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Tony Magro, Vice President of Sales
Tony Magro first joined HireRight as a Director of Enterprise Sales when HireRight’s parent company, Altegrity, acquired Kroll Inc. Mr. Magro was with Kroll’s Risk Consulting Group in July of 1998 when Kroll acquired Mr. Magro’s former employment screening company, LSI Inc., where he served as a business development manager in employment risk analysis with an emphasis on employment screening. In this capacity, he assisted a wide range of organizations develop and implement their employment screening initiatives including government agencies, industrial organizations, labor organizations, and commercial enterprises throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Presently, Mr. Magro focuses on sales strategy and execution leading to new customer acquisition across the large, mid-market and small business sales teams. Prior to joining HireRight, Mr. Magro spent nearly 20 years in the employment screening field in various capacities from policy consultant through Managing Director positions. Duties included design, development, and implementation of national and international employment substance abuse screening and employment background investigation programs. Furthermore, Mr. Magro helped design and implement substance abuse testing programs for the US Federal Judiciary via the Administrative Office of the US Courts.
Mr. Magro holds a B.S. in Biology from Colorado College.
Catherine Aldrich - Vice President of Operations
Catherine Aldrich joined HireRight in November 2009 as Vice President of Operations. Ms. Aldrich is responsible for leading HireRight’s background screening service delivery functions, as well as overseeing HireRight’s consumer compliance departments. With a focus on continuous process improvement, Ms. Aldrich also steers HireRight’s operational excellence teams.
Ms. Aldrich came to HireRight from Accurate Background, where she was Executive Vice President as well as Corporate Compliance Officer relating to all federal and state/local credit reporting laws. Prior to joining Accurate Background, she held the position of Vice President of Product Management at ChoicePoint from 1996–2000.
Ms. Aldrich has served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) and has been a member of several professional organizations including the NAPBS Background Screening Credentialing Council (BSCC) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Janet Randolph – Vice President of Human Resources
Janet Randolph joined HireRight as Vice President of Human Resources in May 2010. She leads HireRight’s global human resources function, designed to attract, develop, engage, and retain its highly talented workforce. Ms. Randolph brings more than 25 years of combined human resources and business strategy leadership experience to the HireRight executive team.
Before joining HireRight, Ms. Randolph was Director of Human Resources for the Rational Software brand within International Business Machines Corporation’s ("IBM") Software Group following its October 2006 acquisition of FileNet where she was Vice President of Human Resources. Prior to FileNet, Ms. Randolph served for approximately six years as Vice President of Human Resources for Epicor Software Corporation.
Ms. Randolph has held a number of other HR leadership roles where her ability to align human resources strategies with organizational objectives helped to deliver business growth and performance, including key positions at Johnson & Johnson’s Cordis Webster unit, Sorin Biomedical, Inc., and IBRD-Rostrum Global. She has also held business development executive positions at Right Management Consultants and CoCensys, Inc.
Ms. Randolph earned her M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix and her B.A. in Sociology from University of California, Los Angeles.
Mark Adams - Chief Information Officer and Vice President Engineering
Mark Adams joined HireRight as the Vice President of Information Technology in October 2010. He was appointed to Chief Information Officer & VP of Engineering October 2012. He is responsible for leading HireRight’s technology organization including software development, information technology, information security, and business intelligence. Mr. Adams brings more than 17 years of enterprise technology strategy and innovation to the HireRight executive team.
Before joining HireRight, Mr. Adams was Group Manager of Enterprise Delivery Services for Auto Club of Southern California (AAA) where he led teams focused on the engineering of highly scalable, real-time, transactional systems. His duties included overseeing software and infrastructure engineering projects as related to improving the customer experience; especially in the areas of contact centers and highly transactional self-service applications. From 2006 to 2008, Mr. Adams led technology teams for Red 5 Studios; a global massively multi-player online game (MMOG) development studio. Prior to that, from 2002 to 2006 at Lending Tree Loans, Mr. Adams held leadership positions including serving as its Vice President of Information Technology. His prior experience includes software development and IT leadership roles for a variety of technology integration firms and universities.
Mr. Adams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from California State University, Fullerton.
Dan Shoemaker, Senior Managing Director, EMEA and APAC
Dan Shoemaker joined HireRight in September 2010 and as Senior Managing Director he leads HireRight’s EMEA and APAC business including market strategy and development, business development, client support, and the delivery of HireRight solutions based in London.
Prior to HireRight, Mr. Shoemaker was with Altegrity company USIS, where he served as director of the Central Business Unit, with responsibility for field operations of more than 550 investigators, covering 14 states. Prior to this role, he served USIS in corporate development and business development roles, originally joining the company in 2002. Prior experience includes serving as Assistant Secretary of Transportation for the Commonwealth of Virginia and managing government affairs for the National Air Transportation Association, based in Alexandria, Virginia.
Active within the background screening industry, Mr. Shoemaker served as the 2009-2010 Chairman of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS). As Chairman of NAPBS, one of his key accomplishments was the expansion of the association internationally, overseeing the development of chapters in Europe and Asia-Pacific regions to meet the new demands of a globalizing industry.
Mr. Shoemaker holds an MBA from the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University, and a BA in Geography from Virginia Tech.
Jenifer DeLoach, General Manager, Americas
Ms. DeLoach joined HireRight in 2010 after the company's acquisition of the Background Screening Division of Kroll, and brings more than 14 years of experience in the employment screening industry to HireRight.
In her current position, as General Manager, Americas, Ms. DeLoach is responsible for overseeing HireRight's client-facing organizations including Account Management, Customer Care, Product Management and Professional Services. HireRight's organizational structure and Ms. DeLoach support a global, customer-centric business. Ms. DeLoach is accountable to drive decision-making velocity through the organization to deliver the best solutions to our customers and increase the speed and execution through organizational alignment. She leads the integration of functions for customer solution delivery supported by matrix organizations including sales, marketing, operations, and product development. She also oversees industry verticals including Healthcare and Transportation.
In her previous position at Kroll, now a HireRight company, Ms. DeLoach led the Product Line Management function, which included oversight of the product roadmap and priorities. In prior assignments, she was responsible for the creation of new products/services, the development of partnership channels and strategic partnership arrangements, as well as providing leadership to the division's offices outside of North America. She has also been involved in special investigations and is a licensed private investigator in various states, including Nebraska, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Prior to joining HireRight, Ms. DeLoach served as the Director of Research for an investment advisory firm. She began her career with Andersen Consulting as a Systems Analyst.
Ms. DeLoach graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
Steven Spencer, Vice President of Transportation
Steven Spencer joined HireRight in January of 1999. Mr. Spencer has more than 21 years of experience in sales and public facing positions. In 2000 he led a project to develop an account management program for the top trucking customers of DAC Services. In 2001 he became the manager for all aviation accounts and continues to act as one of the company’s aviation subject matter expert. As HireRight revitalized our focus on transportation, Mr. Spencer was promoted to the Director of Transportation Sales to lead this effort. In his role as Director Mr. Spencer was responsible for leading account management, large and midsized business development and industry relations for the trucking and transportation sectors of the business. In his current role Mr. Spencer oversees the transportation center of excellence as General Manager and represents the transportation business line with the broader HireRight executive team.
Before HireRight, Mr. Spencer held management positions with Commercial Financial Services. In his role there he developed the standard operating procedure for portfolio management and led groups in both operations and collections. Before joining Commercial Financial Services he spent 7 years in retail sales and management for Radio Shack stores.
Mr. Spencer holds a B.S. in Environmental Science with an emphasis in management and compliance from Missouri Southern State University.
Gregg Freeman, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel
Gregg Freeman is the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of HireRight, with primary responsibility for company legal, compliance and contract functions.
Mr. Freeman joined HireRight in April 2004 as Associate General Counsel, and in January 2010, was appointed Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. Before joining HireRight, Mr. Freeman was the Associate General Counsel of Interplay Entertainment Corp., a publicly traded computer entertainment software company. Prior to Interplay, Mr. Freeman was an associate with Brown, Winfield & Canzoneri, a business law firm located in Los Angeles, CA.
Mr. Freeman earned his undergraduate degree in Communications from UCLA, his Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law, and his Master's Degree in Business Administration in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
