HireRight Office of Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE) Check

The HireRight United States Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE) Check identifies individuals banned from participating in federally-funded health care programs including Medicare and Medicaid. Persons that are on the LEIE include those convicted of federal health care program related violations such as fraud, patient abuse and health care sanctions. Government regulations may prohibit organizations from dealing with those on the LEIE, putting health care program reimbursements at risk, thereby making this search essential.

Maintain Compliance

Protecting your health care organization from individuals convicted of violating laws surrounding federal health care programs is critical in mitigating your organization’s financial and security risks. Any items or services that are furnished, ordered, or prescribed by an excluded individual or entity on the OIG exclusion list will not receive payment from the federal government. This includes hospitals or organizations that may employ or contract an excluded individual or entity.

Additional regulations surrounding participation in federally funded health care programs require performing the HireRight GSA EPLS Check in conjunction with the HireRight OIG Excluded Parties Check.

Common OIG Exclusion List Uses:

  • Identify individuals banned from participating in federally-funded health care programs
  • Discover persons that may pose risk to your organization
  • Comply with reimbursement policies of federally-funded health care programs
