Exploring Hiring and Screening Trends: Take HireRight’s 2025 Global Benchmark Survey
HireRight has just launched its latest annual Benchmark Survey, which is open until March 4, 2025. Here are five key findings from HireRight’s 2024 Benchmark Report that this year’s survey will be tracking against.

Each year, HireRight conducts a Global Benchmark Survey of HR, risk, and talent management professionals to find out more about the HR landscape—in particular, background screening, talent acquisition, and workforce management. We use this information to compile our Global Benchmark Report, an award-winning, in-depth look at regional and global recruitment, background screening, and talent management trends.
Our 2025 Benchmark Survey is live until Tuesday, March 4, 2025—so if your role covers talent acquisition, talent management, risk management, or background screening, we would love to get your input!
Through the survey you can anonymously share your company’s recent experiences of hiring, screening, and workforce management—plus, you can help us support one of four global charities.
This year’s survey will be fundraising for Heifer International, International Sanctuary, UNICEF, and the WWF. Once respondents completed the survey, they can vote to support one of these charities, and after the survey has closed, HireRight will make a donation to each charity based on the number of respondents’ votes received.

As we look forward to sharing the results of this year’s survey, here are five key findings from HireRight’s 2024 Global Benchmark Report, which we will be tracking against in this year’s report.
Five Takeaways from HireRight’s 2024 Benchmark Report
Accuracy matters most when choosing a screening provider.
Will business priorities have changed, or will accuracy of results continue to be the factor most cited as a main consideration when companies choose a background screening provider?
Employment and education verifications are the most likely to find candidate discrepancies.
If more companies are utilizing skills-based hiring and foregoing education checks for certain roles, will our respondents say that discrepancies were more often found when conducting other checks this year?
Most businesses are comfortable with the use of AI/automation in the background screening process (researching or compiling a report).
This year’s survey takes a deeper dive into how AI is already being used or planning to be used this year to support certain HR functions. With major developments in AI in the past 12 months, will respondents be more or less comfortable with it than a year ago?
Stability or growth of workforce size in 2024 was expected by nearly nine in 10 respondents globally.
Will market/economic uncertainty—such as inflation, geopolitical tensions, or regulatory changes—have any impact on companies’ expected hiring activities? Will as many businesses have such a positive outlook for 2025, or will their expectations have tempered this year?
Identity information checks, including SSN Verification, appear to be underutilized globally. Just 62% of North American respondents, 55% of APAC respondents, and 43% of EMEA respondents said they include these checks in their screening programs.
Given the boom in increasingly sophisticated generative AI tools being utilized to dupe potential employers, will more respondents be utilizing services such as HireRight’s Global ID Check to help uncover identity fraud?
Look out for this year’s Benchmark Report this summer, where we will compare last year’s data with this year’s survey findings in our 2025 Global Benchmark Report.
